Title: Altador Cup!
Description: Did you join?
Sonic - June 5, 2006 06:50 AM (GMT)
Hey all, there's the new Altador Cup and I'm sure you all noticed. What team do you choose? I chose Maraqua since I like well, Maraqua! Anyway, how is the system? Well, let's discuss that ;). I got my hands on the training a bit and it was easier now then it was then. I conceded four when I first started with this. Now I'm doing 6 to 0s. What about you all?
ThePurpleYullie - June 5, 2006 07:39 AM (GMT)
Nobody's blaming you because it's easy not to notice, but there is a topic about it in the General Neopets Chat.I make that mistake sometimes too!
sarajane - June 5, 2006 01:36 PM (GMT)
Frankie, there's nothing wrong with making a topic in here about it as well since it's a major Neopets event. We had multiple Altador Plot topics and that was fine. Thank you for your help, but please leave stuff like that to the moderators and admins.
I joined the Terror Mountain team. I think this looks like Quidditch a bit. Pete says it looks like Blitzball (from FFX) which I have to agree.

I'm barely gettinbg the hang of it... but at least I can beat the practise team!
What are everyone's favourite team layout?
sarajane - June 5, 2006 02:53 PM (GMT)
I tried to play the practice team this morning and I kept accidentally putting the "ball" into the other team's goal. lol
Nightsdream - June 5, 2006 04:05 PM (GMT)
Would it be easier to play with a mouse? I have the fingerpad and I just can't get it to go fast enough for me:(
cindylu - June 5, 2006 05:19 PM (GMT)
Well I really stink at this game. I did notice that it plays a bit different depending on which team you are supporting. Right now I'm supporting Faerieland, I seem to do best with that one so far but I may try some others.
I am just not good with action games, I do better with puzzle and spelling type games. Guess I'm just uncoordinated. LOL.

I don't know. I tried using the mouse and my wacom and I stink at both. I never even tried the keyboard.
:bag:
One thing's for sure. Whatever team plays against me will be sure to win since I will be scoring goals for them. lol
JustSu - June 6, 2006 01:26 AM (GMT)
geez, i'm dumb. do you people actually understand the rules and all that stuff about left defender and forward and all? i've only gotten through the page about the committe and a couple of the team rundowns and i'm very certain i'm going to ... um, inhale noisly through the mouth ... at this game.
the quiz said i should join virtupets, and i thought, well, i'm spacey and that's probably what the quiz recommendation was based on (answers that fall into no particular pattern). they are apparently the worst team out there, so i should fit right in. but just reading through the instructions on how to play (heidi, it does tell you to do certain things with the mouse) made me really nervous. i don't know if i'll stay with virtupets - though i certainly fit the assessment - my neohome is on roo island and i lean that way. they're hardly more favored than virtupets, so perhaps i wouldn't bring the team to its knees in the first half second of play.
oh, and does anyone have a clue how to pronounce Yooyu anyway?
and has anyone seen any of the stock from the shop, or is that yet to be released?
Sonic - June 6, 2006 12:48 PM (GMT)
I'm really sorry. I didn't really look before I posted. Anyway, it's much easier with the mouse since it's easier to control. Nah, haven't seen the stocks. My friends pronounce them (you you) It's quite odd but I guess we'll have to accept it.
sarajane - June 6, 2006 02:15 PM (GMT)
Su, I have no clue what the "rules" are. I just figure the goal is to get my ball into the other team's goal. I tend to like to learn through doing, and I didn't feel like reading that long explanation of how to play. Maybe that explains why I'm so awful at this...
JustSu - June 6, 2006 03:50 PM (GMT)
SJ, the only reason i read the rules first was that i was moving left to right across the heading bar. by the time i got to the practice game, i was convinced i couldn't do it, so i haven't tried. i plan to just jump in there today. here's hoping i don't break the whole game!
jupisan - June 6, 2006 07:39 PM (GMT)
I try to play the game yesterday but man I suck at that game and its with a mouse.
DNT - June 6, 2006 08:58 PM (GMT)
I'd say mouse is much more better. There's more control and more freedom in using that than fingerpad.
I found that between Krawk Island and Darigan Citadel, I'm better with Darigan.
And I read the whole rules thing, and it really doesn't say a bunch of complicated what a foul is and so on so fourth, just more of the fact that the committee protects the rules like a referree I guess in RL sports, the history of the game, the yooyu types, and how to control the players in the game.
I think the only rule is that the goal keeper has to stay in a certain area. X3
As for my favorite team layout, I have no idea. I end up destroying it anyway, and I can't even beat the practice team.
Also, I pronounce Yooyu, Yooyoo and Yooya. XD
And...does anybody notice the fact that the practice team is like Team JellyWorld? >.<
cindylu - June 7, 2006 05:42 PM (GMT)
Erm.................there's rules? And, um, instructions? LOL.
Okay, so my 11 year old is much better at the game than I am and she's on Team Faerieland along with me. My 9 year old is on Kiko Lake.
I wish there was another way to practice this. My problem is that I hardly have the ball and they shoot a goal. I don't even get a chance to practice passing or anything because I'm SO BAD I don't last for more than a few seconds. :(
Cindylu
DNT - June 7, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
Aw, don't worry Cindy, just practice. I'm bad at it too, but practicing helps! And try out different formations and which way your goal is, I started with the left goal, but I tried the right one, and discovered that was my best one. Just keep trying. :)
jupisan - June 8, 2006 12:42 AM (GMT)
I switch teams, Im now in Faerieland. Its much easier being Faeriland team than Tryannian in my opinion. Im getting good at the practice thingy. Im good at defending and I got my first goal today. :D
DNT - June 8, 2006 01:48 AM (GMT)
I'm getting pretty good as well. And instead of the Darigan team...I switched to Terror Mountain as I'm gooder with them. XD They may not look as awesome, but I win a lot more with them...
And it has no association with the fact that they are a good team. :D
Hm, there's something buggy about my team stuff. On one page it says I'm on the Darigan team, the other Terror Mountain. And when I practice, I'm Terror Mountain. Hm...
Cicada Noise - June 8, 2006 03:48 AM (GMT)
I joined Meridell... only because four out of my seven permies are Meridell-themed. XD
Actually, I also joined the Darigan Citadell on my other account (because their insignia is cool), but I'm just gonna play on one. (I was too lazy to read all the rules, and I don't wanna get iced if we're not supposed to use multiple accounts. :x )
DNT - June 9, 2006 12:55 AM (GMT)
I switched back to Darigan. I'm too cool to not be in there. XD

Matterbug - June 9, 2006 01:00 PM (GMT)
OH NOES.
I just saw the schedule for this round.
My team is playing my dreaded arch nemesis- Faerieland. I was hoping I wouldn't have to kick their butts so early in the game.
Sonic - June 10, 2006 01:57 PM (GMT)
If Maraqua loses, JUST IF, I'll join Darigan/Terror Mountain (Anyone who wins their match). I think it'll be Darigan. BUT IF MARAQUA WIN, GO MARAQUA!
Icycat_02 - June 10, 2006 08:27 PM (GMT)
Wow, a whole lot easier with a mouse, I was trying to play with a touch pad, didn't work. Now I'm scoring 4-0 and 5-0
Legossi - June 11, 2006 12:52 PM (GMT)
Whoa is that why I've never won a game? I've only tried touch pad :P
*steals mouse from her sister's computer*
let's see if I play better
