Title: Above the Pit

It's been bothering me for awhile now, so I decided that it was time to start a real discussion about the issue. The original plan was to have some necromancers suspended over the pit in cages, but this idea has been having problems taking off. The main reason for this is that there aren't many methods of having things jutting out from the edge of the pit that would look practical, or get in the way to have cages hanging from. No matter what method was used, it would require new meshes to be made, and that alone is reason to have a clear idea before work can really start.

The rocks that are in at the moment were supposed to be placeholders, but as you can see, it doesn't really look right to have them spanning across like that, and anything hung from them wouldn't be accessible. You would also be more limited by what you can suspend from them. So the problem has sat, unresolved.

Right now I'm considdering 2 alternatives;

First option is to go without the rocks, go without the cages, and change the story to where Necromancers are either pushed off the walkway, or sent through a portal to the lower areas of the pit. The advantage of this method is that it requires nothing other than things which will be used elsewhere on the project. The disadvantage is that it kinda diminishes the impact of using necromancers.

The second option is to have something floating above the pit, with a similar look to the walkway, which the cages will be suspended from. from that platform. The advantage is that it adds another "cool" thing to the area, and further establishes the look of the realm, while keeping close to the original idea of the area. The disadvantage is that this platform and all things related would need to be worked out.

So I wanted to get an idea of what other people thought of the issue.

I like #2 better. However it does add alot of extra work. But the other option is really... Lame. No offense. Lol.

I think we should stick with number 2 too. But i was thinking maybe have one small platform with the cages hanging under it and then one bigger with a hole in it, and in some way let player kill the necromancers. And in a couple of days they will respawn.

Ok, FINALLY got to working on things. After playing around with a few ideas, this was the best I could come up with.

I put some testing NPCs inside for the time being, but there will be a few necromancers in there when the update comes. The premise behind the design is to have a single cage that acts as a living area, as there is no food in the cage, captives have the luxary of deciding if they want to starve to death, or jump through the hole in the floor (with the added bonus of occasionally seeing someone fall out). The original idea had the cage floating, but decided to work in the rock pieces (making them point more upward) and make some large chains instead. I think this way works best with the original idea as well as what has already been established in the mod. Admittedly the texturing is rather plain, but for now just wanted to get the idea out there. retextures could come later, especially if we ever find anyone able to make said textures. But what we have works even if we don't.
