Description: when they urinate

I live in the Chicago land area and am not sure what kind of wild toad I caught. But was told that if a toad urinates on my hand/skin I will get blisters on the area that was urinated on? Is that true? I did not keep him, but was just wondering.

I think that's an old wives' tale. While toads have toxins in their skin (irritating but not deadly for native US species), their urine is just like any other. If you go to enature.com, you can see toads native to Illinois. Most likely, it was an American toad.

That is just self defense to make the predater drop them. Someone had posion ivy and the toad urinated on them, and it took the itch away! But I dont reccomend going around picking up toads so they urinate on you. :P
