Title: Egg Bound Goldfish
Description: Egg bound goldfish

Hi,
I wrote before asking this same question about my goldfish being egg bound, perhaps my post got deleated. I have a goldfish about 6 inches that layed eggs about 2-3 weeks ago and she is getting more bloated. I have read that she might be egg bound, and she could die if she cannot release the other eggs. It also stated that you can soak her in epsom salt every day to help release them. Has anyone ever had this problem? I want to help her, but I do not know how.
Any suggestions would be helpful.
Thanks Betty

i think my goldfish is a little bloated too, or just chubby :D .

She is not a little chubby, she looks like she's going to explode. She swims around and eats just fine, but I am really worried about her.

The fact that you think she's ready to explode leads me to think that it's either dropsy or a kidney malfuction. Dropsy comes on quickly with the scales sticking out. Kidney problems lead to a huge fish but slowly over time so the scales have time to adjust. Are the scales sticking out? Can you send or post a photo?

it sounds like dropsy.
