Title: Pale Zebra Danio
Description: Pale fish

Athena - June 6, 2004 02:56 PM (GMT)
I have noiced that one of my Zebra Danios seems to become pale on certain days. One day she's a little pale and the next day her strips are crisp and clear black. I cannot determine a pattern, but I've only had her for about 2 weeks. Is this a sign of stress or illness?? or possibly some type of mating ritual??

Thanks,

Athena

Most fish can pale-out when they want to. I think my health page at http://www.fishpondinfo.com/health.htm has a section on "washed-out" fish. It can be due to illness, stress, a new environment, or just adapting to whatever background the fish is on that day. I don't think it has anything to do with breeding. My danios don't vary much day to day in stripe intensity. If one does was out, it usually means something is wrong.
