Title: Heat Of Tank

VanishingReality - September 1, 2005 09:44 PM (GMT)
My tank is always really warm, is there any way to fix this?

What size tank is it? How warm is the water? What is the temperature of the room? What kind of lighting do you have? If you can't cool the entire room, turning off the lights may reduce the tank temperature, especially if the lights are producing heat. Keep the tank out of direct sunlight. If it gets too hot for the fish, you can float ziploc bags full of ice. Blowing a fan over open water may also cool the tank if the fish are the kind that like to jump. Tank chillers are expensive and require electricity but cool the tank well. Using an air conditioner in the room usually is cheaper than that (unless you want it really cold like for trout).

lower the heater, check the light.

Ever tried a chiller?..... If the heat is caused by the humidity of the area in which you live and there is really nothing you can do about it because it's natural, you may want to try a chiller.....
