i have just noticed a small number of goldfish fry in my pond,great u say! but heres the question. cold weather is on the horizon,mr herron will be around soon,and come new year the pond will be infested with breeding frogs.should i remove the fry to an indoor tank until next year or will they be ok?

How big is your pond? How deep? Does the heron normally take your goldfish? They may not bother with the small fry, preferring larger fish first (unless they're too big). Can you net the pond to keep the heron out? Breeding frogs normally are just interested in the breeding and don't eat much at that time. I've yet to see any of my frogs eat a fish although many have seen bullfrogs do so. What species of frogs do you have?

The fry are at risk from various predators in the pond. If you want a larger percentage to survive, then bring some inside. If you don't, I expect that some should still survive.

i would say bring them in if you can, if they are too small they might not make it through the winter, this is the time to start fatting them up.
