After having a 20 gallon for a while i realised i should buy a bigger tank. i can get a 55 gallon with a heater, filter and other stuff for around $200.00. I was thinking of turning it into an asian semi aggresive. I would like to have 3 clown loaches, 1 rainbow shark, 9 tiger barbs, 5 kuhli loaches, ? blue three spot, paradise and pearl gouramis, and 4 red rainbows. I think this should be okay for a 55 what do you guys think? I would probably get 2 paradise gouramis, 1 or 3 three spots and 2 or 3 pearls.

That seems to be a lot of potentially irritable tank mates especially with all those gouramis together. I would start with fewer and see how they do together and maybe add more later.

yah it does seem like a bit much. i may do 1 blue 3 spot and 2 paradise.

;) Well we all know MY take on paradise fish. I agree w/Robyn & it sounds like you may be making a wise decision not to overdo the gouramis. Besides if you get a pair of paradise & they mate you'll have a hard time keeping the other fish away. Good luck with this venture :)

I would re-think the tiger barbs they might nip the pearl gourami's

If there is a nice size school they probably wont. 7+ is go for this but i would go for 9. Im not doing this tank anymore. my next will be brackish or salt.

Yeah a 55 gal tank sounds good. watch out about the semi-aggressive or aggressive fish tough there might be some overcrowding and a bit of trouble. You should start with less aggressive fish together see how they do.
