Title: Possible Water Fleas????????

I was looking at the plants some of the plastic plants in my tank an i noticed a few small tiny tiny little white dots on a few leaves of my plants. At first i thought they may be white cloud eggs but figured they were too small. I even thought i may be small pieces of food. fter watching them very closely they seem to move. I saw them once before and a few days later they were completely gone. None of my fish are sick and my tank is clean. Has anyone else seen this before? It doesn't seem to be a problem.

Did the white dots hop or glide? Could they have been planaria which are flatworms? There are some white insects that might be that small but they wouldn't be too common. Water fleas or daphnia are free swimming and swim around the open water in little bursts. They aren't normally white and wouldn't be walking/sitting on leaves. I guess it's possible some smaller microorganisms could be what you're seeing. Whatever you saw, it sounds like they're harmless. Microoganism populations tend to have bursts of population and then die offs.

I didn't see any of these little bugs for a while and then last night I saw a whole bunch of them. This time they were on the bottom of the tank in between the rocks and the glass. they just seem to glide or move real smoothly. They are tiny tiny little roundich oval things that look almost greyish white. They are almost hard to spot unless you are looking really closely and have good eyesight or are using a magnifying glass. They don't seem to be on the fish but in the rocks. I thought maybe they were daphnia but I am not sure. I don't think they are any type of parasite. I don't know even if they are harmless to the fish or where they came from. Any more info would help

I'm still not clear on their locomotion. Are they "glued" to whatever they're gliding on or are they free swimming/moving? If they stay on the surface upon which they're moving, then I'd guess planaria. If they are moving in the water, then they could be daphnia or cyclops or other small crustaceans. Since they're in the gravel, they are most likely no threat to the fish.
