Hi, I was trying to breed shrimp for ages, (to have live feed for my Murray Cod)
I had no success until i changed thing as described below:

Put at least 10 shrimps in a tank with aged water . Put some cultured pond water from a real creek in.

Remove any dragonfly larvae (look like a white wingless fly with a snorkle stiking out their butt.. get rid of them or theyll eat anything and everything)

Put in quite a few large pieces of wood thats been sitting in a water for a while. It must have a lot of weathered holes and creases in it (splintered is even better)

I had my aquarium in cold water, the only thing i had in the tank was yabbies (a kind of australian crayfish)

I had a corner air bubbler filter in a 2 foot tank. With a dirty gravel base and some tiny floating pond plants (look like 1/12 inch wide lilly pads- not sure what its called in US, maybe Clover?)
An average flouro tube provided light (left on 24/7)

Dont have ANY fish in the aqaurium and dont clean the aqaurium or replace the water for a very long time. Shrimps apparantly like it really scungy.

Its the start of winter here, and the average temp is 10-20 Deg Celcius. I put my indoor heater on in the room for a few nights (to keep myself warm) and that must have signalled the breeding.

One of the bigger 3/4 inch long females had been carrying for a few days and then a few nights ago there were hundreds of thousands of baby shrimp (they look like litte white letter "Y"s sitting on the aquarium glass and the surface, very tiny, just visible. They move by jumps like scared adult shrimp.

Im shifting some of the shrimp larvae to different containers (buckets) to try different things to make them grow.

Thanks for sharing your story! My ghost shrimp breed in my tank on their own but only a few babies survive. This is even though the tank is plant-less and kept very clean. So, I'm not sure why I get any babies!
