Title: Abandoned Fish Nearley Dead
Tim - November 10, 2005 09:26 AM (GMT)
the other day i looked over my next door neighbours fence and to my horror i saw a fish tank with no filter and the water was almost opaque ( not able to see through). I think that the fish might die soon!!! What can i do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

give it the best water quality you can and hope for the best. acclimate slowly as with any fish. keep an eye out for disease for the next 2 weeks or so. good luck.

It sounds like the neighbor either doesn't know what to do, doesn't care, or doesn't have the time. Offer to take the fish (and maybe the tank) in a friendly manner. Say something like, "I can see it's difficult to maintain your aquarium. Would you like me to help out? I could even take them for a while?" They will either be grateful or bite your head off in which case, there's nothing you can do.

okay, i read it wrong, i thought you already had it as if they had thrown it away or something and you were trying to keep it in your tank and it looked like it was dying. hows that for a run-on sentence. i like robyns idea, try to help it by asking if they need it or just flat out offering.

im would ask the neighbors about you taking it if you are comfortable about that. if it is a koi i would suggest finding someone with a pond who can take it.
Tim - November 11, 2005 12:39 AM (GMT)
i dont think that it is a koi it just looks like a commet
Tommy - November 11, 2005 02:49 PM (GMT)
do you know how big the tank is tim?
Tim - November 12, 2005 03:12 AM (GMT)
not sure it is probobly a 5 gallon or somethimg close to that
Tommy - November 12, 2005 01:33 PM (GMT)
you should ask the neighbor if you can take the fish. i dont think there going to do anything about it. you could also help them or something.

It would be a good idea to go over to your neighbors... ((at least find a really good reason to do so..))... and bring it up as a topic of conversation.... Tell them that you noticed their aquarium from your backyard and you're a koi enthusiast (or whatever)...Ask them what kind of fish they keep in their aquarium... and then see if they will lead you to it.... If they don't, there is nothing you can do... If they do, the floor is yours.... You can let the "professor" in you sparkle and your knowledge spill.....
but, never insinuate yourself on your neighbors... Such a thing is an invasion of privacy... They will wonder why you have been peeking..... they will have names for people like you.... :)
You guys just make it out as if it is an abused child.... Get the authorities involved! hahahaaaaa....

maybe animal control but that seems a bit much..
Tim - November 23, 2005 10:30 PM (GMT)
i think animal controll would be a bit much. :D Sometimes i was taking some of my fish food over to it and feeding it but trying to drop it over the fence most of it missed. I checked back over there the other day and the fish was dead!!!!!! :( :( I want to take the tank off them and do something else with i i could make some good use for it in my house!!!!!!!!!! Even though goldfish are one of the cheapest pets to buy dosnt mean their life is cheap!!!
Tommy - November 23, 2005 10:38 PM (GMT)
i like what you said. they are still a living thing and just because they are a dollar doesnt mean they should be mistreated. Do they have any other pets? i hope they dont!
Tim - November 23, 2005 10:46 PM (GMT)
dont think they have any other pets Which is good!!!!! they kept the tank against the fence with plants infront of it so they couldnt enjoy the beauty of it anyway!!
Tim - November 23, 2005 10:48 PM (GMT)
i am going to make that my signature "Just because a goldfish is cheap dosnt mean its life is cheap"
Tommy - November 23, 2005 10:55 PM (GMT)
