Has anyone had any luck kepping live plants? I seem to only be able to keep hygrofla. I was just wondering if anybody new of any real hardy species or any tips with out getting a co2 unit. The store I work at just got a new supplier for plants and I would love to get some but Im not sure If i can kepp them alive.

I kind of have a black thumb myself. My page on live aquarium plants is at http://www.fishpondinfo.com/decor.htm

I've never had CO2 injection.
The plants that have worked well for me include java moss, floating fern, frogbit, anubias nana, and a few crypt plants.

i have a 5.5 gallon now and had originally planned it to be planted. co2 you dont really need but it would be great if you used it. if you want hardy species you have to get new lighting and some other things.

I haven't had much luck so far (my fish ate three already) but I've heard the java ferns and java moss is quite hardy and grows well. You can try it if you like, or just use artificial plants.
