i dont usually, but if it is on the plate i am not opposed to it "on moral grounds" or anything, i just dont prefer it.

it is also extremely detrimental on the environment. did you know that we only have about 10% of the large fish left in the oceans now? along with the side kills like turtles and dolphins. that means on our way to eating 90% of the large fish species out there, we managed to kill many other animals that simply drown, then get tossed overboard since they arent supposed to be caught. this still happens, america is getting better, but dolphins and turtles can still be easily pulled up by foreign fishing vessels, and as far as i know no one is watching american ships while they are fishing. freshwater fish arent any better. they are usually raised in floating fish farms that act as a hot spot for disease for the local fish, and everything downstream from the floating farm, not that the fish being raised there for us to eat have great health either.

SadieMay - October 27, 2007 05:21 PM (GMT)
tuna, whiting, pollack, haddock and salmon once in a great while. If it wasn't for pictures I'd have grown up thinking they grew in cans or they were natural stick figures. (fish sticks) :ph43r: :P

Route3drummer - October 27, 2007 06:34 PM (GMT)
Never cared for the taste actually......except the Macnugget kind. :D

Jayesh - October 27, 2007 06:36 PM (GMT)
Well think about it. Your goldfish are eating fish food. Your fish food comes from sea fish. People aren't really wasting fish. You eat the flesh of salmon, your goldfish eat the nasty bits like intestines, bladders, brains and eyes.

I'm a vegan for 26 years. :D

Robyn - October 28, 2007 12:26 AM (GMT)
Good for you Karen! I wish I could do that. I'm just a partial vegetarian. I eat tuna, chicken, turkey, shrimp (breaded only), clams (breaded, maybe once every two years), and rarely products with cow or pig but no other animals except the gnats that keep flying into my mouth! It's the cheese I couldn't give up! I love cheese!

KoiKrazy - October 28, 2007 05:56 AM (GMT)
I can't eat any meat with a bone in it, lol, so that rules out fish! I was a vegetarian for quite a few years. I will eat the odd meat if it is disguised with batter. I have never in my life ever even tasted sea food. Like if someone ever put say a whole lobster on my plate I would run a screaming in the other direction. I went fishing with my Dad a couple of years ago and when he caught a fish and clubbed it on the head I cried! I just do best with avoiding meat and the meat isle at the supermarket. So NO I DON'T EAT FISH, LOL

Robyn,
I am a vegan because:

A. ethical beliefs about animals

B. I am lactose intolerant! :o LOL, I do miss cheese. Every now and then I'll have a little FETA, but I must prepare for a stomach ache! The intolerance includes even chocolate!!! If I need chocolate, any more than a "fun size" gives me a stomach ache too.

Robyn - October 28, 2007 09:50 PM (GMT)
Well, at least the lactose intolerance gives you incentive to be a vegan. I think I'm developing some intolerance too with age. If I eat too much cheese, I get intestinal pains. I just can't stop eating the stuff though; I'm a cheeseaholic. My favorite is whipped cream cheese and chives with doritos or potato chips.

They make chocolate that doesn't have any milk in it. Can you eat dark chocolate?

Karen1961 - October 29, 2007 10:42 AM (GMT)
I have had dark chocolate...now that you mention it, I do not recall getting a stomach ache. WATCH OUT!! I think I might NEED some!!

Yep, I eat fish. There I admitted it! Whew, that took a lot out of me. I have to go to a FA meeting now ;)

haha yeah, those pesky bugs.

I answered no, I am vegan.

Interesting question. :)

I'm vegan, and never eat fish or any kind of meat, but my girlfriend is a seafood addict.

Robyn you might like this recipe?: http://vegetarian.about.com/od/saucesdipss...chilicheese.htm

I made it a while back and it was delicious, but a little rich. I used low-salt chili because I don't like salt and the cream cheese already had some anyway.

My dog lived well on a vegetarian diet for about a year, but got back into the habit of eating meat again as the vegetarian dog food was too expensive, and I haven't been able to turn him onto vegetarian dog food since.

Ok I must admit I enjoy eating such a large varity of fresh and saltwater fish and it's too long to go into. No deep frying. I'm also firmly believer in the benifits of fish oil, ( omega-3 fatty acids, pharmaceutical grade supliments) Now I guess that could change since I at one time hunted and ate frog legs in my younger days!

Froggy

Vegetarian here. No fish, no meat. Only eat cheese with non animal rennet.

Have tried being a vegan - just can't do it.
