Title: Meet The Paso Fino Horse
pasogirlz - December 30, 2005 03:19 AM (GMT)
I just wanted to introduce you all to my real passion, the Paso Fino horse. Ever heard of them? Most ppl haven't but I love introducing them to the public.
Most horses are trotting horses and have a lot of bounce in their gait. But the Paso Fino horse is special and has a completely different way of traveling. Each foot hits the ground at a perfectly spaced intervals providing the most exciting and smoothest ride possible. If you would like to check out some videos of these horses, see my video page on my website.
Joyero III and Maraquita la Rosa are world famous pasos. *I got to ride Joyero III. B)
My own horse is the "pleasure gelding" video if you are interested.

LOL.. The Pleasure Gelding sounds like some kind of beastiality porno... I loved horses as a young girl, my daughter Alaska loves them too & she's only 2 !!

Naughty- I have a cousin that lives down under. She says there are not many paso finos there. I have only found one farm so far that has them.

I just have to share some pix of me and my boy from the show this weekend.

You're both beautiful! I've only been on a horse once, when I was about 7-years-old. Many of our neighbors have horses but we're not buddy-buddy with them (the people, not the horses). I sometimes pet them at least.

Thanks Robyn. You should try it again sometime...but of course...on a Paso Fino. ;) They are not bouncy like a regular trotting horse. The smooth ride guarantees a "Paso Grin" everytime. B) Once you go Paso...you don't go back. :P
The horse I am riding is my 6 yr old gelding Tequila aka Tempestuoso Capuchino. He sure is handsome, at least I think so. hehe

Guess I should have checked here before posting in the other forum, sorry. You both look great , I , like Robyn have only rode when I was young and approximately 8 years old. Tequila is handsome, I second that motion. He must not be camera shy at all either
He looks pretty calm and content standing next to you. I see you've won ribbons, thats great. Does he do any fancy dancing since they are prone to such swift movements? Does he do any barreling or bar jumping (not sure if thats the proper wording)? Do you go to many Rodeo events? We live about 8 miles from the Buffalo MN National Rodeo grounds. I've lived here for 33 years and just found out 2 years ago that these were National Rodeo Grounds in Buffalo, go figure? My husband was thrown from a Red Rone(spelling?) when he was 18 and that pretty much summed up his need for riding horses. My youngest daughter has always liked horses more than the average child. She has alot of friends that own horses that she goes bare back riding with. When she was a we little one she used to tell us she wanted a pony or miniature and that it could sleep in her room and no barn would be needed. That wasn't to feasable with me but she never stopped telling us stories about how and what her and the horse would do.

Yes, my boy is a fancy dancer. If you would like to see a video, check here.
http://www.zippyvideos.com/737304022122873...easure_gelding/I take him to Paso Fino shows where he is judged on his 4 beat gait while going around the rail, and over a wooden sounding board.
You will note that will his feet are flying, my butt is staying very still in the saddle. B)

EllenR- They are similar to TWH as in they are considered "gaited" but the foot fall pattern and timing is different. Both are smoother rides than a regular horse. The TWH sorta has a side to side movement where as Paso moves it's legs more up and down like pistons.

Not all trotters are bouncy - my Arab+a touch of Saddlebred mare is smooth as glass when she hits her trotting stride. She can keep up with a cantering 16h horse with her trot, and when she does it - holy cow, it's amazing, more like flying than even her gallop! Gaited horses are nice though, my mom had a Tennessee Walker while I was growing up, he was so much smoother to ride than my pony!
That buckskin is a really pretty boy!

LOL. I used to think my Arab was smooth as glass too. Although she is a Cadillac compared to most trotters. But after I got my Pasos...the Arab can't compare. After I get you a test ride for you...you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.
