Title: Red Eared Slider
Description: Co-exist with?

I have an around 700 gallon pond with a seven inch and a four inch slider. Are there any animals that can share the pond with them without becoming food? I live in southern california and the turtles stay active even in the colder months, so they grow year around I think. Sorry if this is covered on the site somewhere, I haven't gone through it all yet, but plan to.
Thanks!

Well, you can add a lot of animals but any that are smaller than the turtle may be eaten (or they'll try to eat them). It's a sort of balance. Your pond is not all that big so the turtles are more likely to nip at passing animals. If the turtles are pellet eaters and well fed, they may not bother too many animals. You can try whatever fish you like; just don't grow too attached to any particular one! Not having had turtles myself, I hope someone else will tell you about their experiences.

Sliders, as most turtles, will try to eat whatever they can. A 700 gallon pond is large enough, I think, for other animals to easily co-exist. But they will need to be a good size. Goldfish and Koi will work well, as long as they are at least a few inches long when you add them. I wouldn't add any other reptiles or amphibians to the pond.

Another thing you could try is adding Rosey Red Minnows. They do not get very big, and will get eaten. But if you add plenty of them, they may readily reproduce and create a constant food source for your turtles. But you must remember, fish allone are not a good diet for turtles, they need vegetaion and pellets too.
