Title: New Pics Of Snapper

i put him back in the 40 breeder because i needed the 55 he was in for the fancy goldfish. he was put in the 55 because he got out of the 40, i think if i just put one cave for him and try to keep it away form the edges he should stay in. i have now seen him snap at a goldfish and a turtle, so the peninsula cooter and the western painted will be going to my work for sale for their own protection (hopefully to really good homes) and hopefully the goldfish will still be able to avoid him.

Your photos make me miss Snappy who I let go a few years ago at about 8-months-old.

i managed to measure him last night, 5". he is now almost 2 years old. i think i may start to get some frozen seafood for him. i know i could probably do frozen shrimp, any other suggestions?

Does he eat crayfish? My Snappy loved earthworms.

never had an opportunity to eat either since i dont feed any live food. im sure he would if i gave him some.

You should try some. I know you don't like to feed live foods but earthworms aren't aquatic so you're not going to introduce aquatic-born parasites or diseases.

i would be very surprised if there were absolutely no microbes that could be transferred from earthworm to turtle. i would rather just give some raw frozen seafood from the grocery store in addition to the pellets.

That turtles awesome, i would definately keep it. Arent you building a pond in the spring? you can put the other 2 turtles in there i guess.

i dont know if we are still doing the pond. i am definitely keeping the snapper, cant sell him in VA anyways since he is native.
