hey, I recently purchased 2 African Dwarf Frogs, and put them in my piranha tank with a 6 inch elongatus. The piranha doesnt bother the frogs at all, and I got them because any other fish in the tank is killed by the piranha..

I wanted to get something that would eat the left over food at the bottom of the tank from the piranha.. A pleco was the first idea but the piranha will kill the pleco, so i got the frogs..

My question is will the frogs eat the left over fish parts at the bottom of the tank?

Like scales, fins, and heads. I do take out any visible fish parts, but there are small parts in the tank that the frog could eat. I have never seen the frog eat them, and the frogs have been in the tank for over a week now.

The only thing the piranha has done to the frogs is play with them, he picks them up in his mouth, and takes them to the surface, then lets them go and chases them to the bottom of the tank.. Its a 50 gal tank. I feed the piranha feeder gold fish, and silver sides.

Um, I don't know how long those poor frogs will last. The piranha may not have eaten them yet but he may just have to figure out that he can. It can't be good for them to be picked up and dropped for fun either.

African dwarf frogs like to eat small live insect larvae and worms. They aren't as attracted to dead things but if they're hungry enough, they may eat some torn fish flesh. They won't eat scales, fins, or bones. If they did try to, they could choke on them. The frogs are attracted to motion like a wiggling worm. They will also eat frozen insect larvae and worms, perhaps attracted by the smell.

Pirahna should be fed more than just live fish. They can take earthworms and some of the pellets or other foods meant for carnivorous fish.

I just pulled this text of of this web site:
http://www.aquascapeonline.com/store/scrip...p?idCategory=23

"Elongatus Piranha are one of the most aggressive piranha species. They are known to chase your finger from outside the tank. Must be kept in there own tank by themselves. They will kill anything you put in with them. "

Enough said.

pooor frogs... its nature, billions of frogs die everyday from predators... but the frogs are fine... still havent been hurt by the piranha... hes more interested in hunting fish, and the frogs dont move enough for the piranha to pay any attention to them.. ill see if the frogs want a worm or 2
