Title: How To Replace Laguna Click-fit Junk

Hi everyone,

I have a Laguna pump with those click-fit couplings. I thought they were great at first, but have come to realize they're worthless and uncouple any time I slightly jiggle a connecting hose.

Is there anyway to modify the pump to get rid of the click-fit? I want to go back to the screw-in couplings since they never come off unless I want them to.

Thanks.

Sorry to hear of your problems. I've never had a Laguna pump or those click on couplings on something in my pond. I have had the hoses come off ponds a lot and use hose clamps but they still sometimes come off. My 50 gallon tank has a Magnum 350 filter with quick fit connections. Sometimes they're hard to get off but so far, they haven't leaked. I don't like the pain of maintenance on that filter. I hope someone who has had your problem can comment. You can probably modify it.

I just bought a Laguna kit, this being my first foray into ponding. I am very dissapointed at the low quality of the filters and pump. If I had known Laguna was made by Hagen, I would have bought a different brand. Hagen is notorious for cheap quality in the aquarium venue. I live in NY and was planning on running the filter system all year round, but after seeing the cheap plastic housings (which look like they will easily crack in the cold) of the pump and filters, will probably bring them inside for the winter and add a small aerator for the winter.
