Title: Toad Problem
Description: Toad eggs on top of pool cover

We have a pool with a hot tub attached to it, and it rained a bit in the past couple days and now there is a little pond on top of the cover over the hot tub. Today we found two toads on top of each other and a huge clump of a string of eggs (I think it is still attached to the female). We are worried because the water probably is not too clean, and there isn’t too much of it. We also want to be able to open the pool in a couple weeks. We have a small pond with fish and some frogs just a few yards away, and are unsure about whether we should move them and how and when. We want what is best for the toads and the fish (some fish we had for years so I don't want to risk them getting killed). Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Net the eggs out before they hatch as it's hard to catch newborn tadpoles! How big is your pond? If you think it can handle the toad tadpoles, put the eggs in there. Otherwise, put them in a small kiddie pool or a natural pond nearby. Use a hose to drain the water off the top of your pool cover. In May, the gray tree frogs put eggs on our pool cover so I have to collect those to save them.
