Robyn,
I've read that the seeds of Eastern European/Asian bog primulas require a season of freezing and subsequent thawing, prior to germination.
1. Do you think this is ABSOLUTELY necessary?
1a. If so, would you recommend the freezer or refridgerator ("typical" temp. range), and how long.
2. I read that Iris seeds, also, require freezing, and of course: drying, before germinating. If this is so, can I leave them in the refridgerator and for how long - as above?
Steven
I'm not familiar with that plant. I'll have to look it up later. Seeds that you want to fool into thinking it's winter should go in the refrigerator. The freezer may kill them. Back around 1999, I put iris seeds from my iris that had dried naturally into a paper cup and set it on my desk all winter. I tossed them around the following spring, and they sprouted. They did not undergo freezing. I think you can just store the dried seeds in a cool, dry place.
When i grew mine i did the same as robyn
