Title: Can No Longer Care For My Beautiful Pleco "samson"
Description: Need help - near Houston, Texas

Hello all, I'm glad to have found this website!
Could you please offer me any suggestions or support for my current situation?

Within the past year I've been dealing with two chronic illnesses which drain me of all my energy and my pocket book with medical bills. I simply can no longer care for all my beloved animals which include 3 dogs, 1 cat and my fish.

Samson is my most beloved Pleco that I have had for a few years now. He was just a small thing when I first got him and he is now around 10" long and oh so beautiful !! I have come to accept taking my 5 Buenos Aries Tetras back into the PetSmart.... but I just can't find it in my heart to send Samson back there too. But, he is in need a bigger home now but I've been so sick that I'm having trouble even caring for the one he is currently in.

My dogs may find good, loving homes through the SPCA, but how do I find a large, loving home for my Samson?

Thanks for listening! Best Wishes and good health to all...

Forgot to login again! You can take your fish to the SPCA and they will care for them. Or give it to a breeder or a friend who wants them!!

I'm so sorry that you are so ill. I hope you're situation improves. I don't think the SPCA will take fish.

I suggest that you advertize on one of the fish forums. My page at http://www.fishpondinfo.com/fsource.htm#sites lists some of the fish forums. Also, you can contact your local aquarium club. Here is the web site for the Houston Aquarium Society:

I'm sure someone there would take Samson. You're lucky to have a club nearby (I don't).

Here's one classifed site but look up "aquarium fish classifieds," and you'll find more:

Also, try Craig's List. Here is the page for fish for sale in Houston. You can click on post at the top right to add in your ad.

Hello, thank you so much for those suggestions, I will look into them right away.

Recently, I had the two following offers, can you tell me if either sound like a good home?

Offer #1 :Hi my name is Krystle i have a 60 gallon tank that is the current home
of a 3 month old Oscar named Sinister and a 4-5 inch Pleco named Buck. I take good care of my babies, the tanks gets cleaned as needed which is usually about once a week right now. Buck tries to clean as much as he can but Sinister is a messy eater and Buck is having trouble keeping up. I have been searching for another pleco that is big enough to handle being in a tank with Sinister but i have had no luck. I have a 3yr old son who watches the tank like it is a television. I would love to take Samson off your hands and give him a good home. I have a 30 gallon tank that i plan on starting soon and i plan to buy a 120 gallon tank next February. I hope you think i can give him a good home no matter how big he gets in the future.
Sincerely,
Krystle Perillo

Offer #2 : i have an outside koi pond. plants, filter, no koi yet. also have an
inside tank he can live in in the winter-time.

Thank you very much for your help!!

Regarding Offer #1: The oscar may beat up even large plecos on occasion. The 30 gallon is not large enough for the oscar and two plecos but the future 120 gallon would be. Two plecos may fight as they're territorial.

Regarding Offer #2: Where is the pond? Unless it's in a tropical area, the pleco would have to come indoors for the winter which I guess the person mentioned. Trying to find him and netting him would be stressful for both person and pleco. Plecos may suck on koi.

Either person would probably provide an "okay" home but not a great one. I would only take them up on it if you cannot find something better.

also you can try going to www.petfinder.org ad posting in there classifieds they are a real great organization

I didn't think they did fish? I also think you have to be a rescue organization to post animals for adoption.
