Title: Help With The Identification Of A Frog

TOBrien - July 27, 2006 10:31 PM (GMT)
I am hoping someone can help me with the identification of a frog I have been seeing daily on my deck. The frog is a white/grayish ash color on it's head, back and top side of legs. The underneath part of the frog is a bright yellow with small blackish spots. The feet are like tree frog's with the ball on the end like a suction cup. Any information would be great.

Thank you!!!!!!

Where do you live? If in the Eastern US, it may be a gray tree frog. If you go to enature.com, you can see photos and information about the various US species including where they're found.

Robyn's guess is far more likely than this one, but there are Cuban Tree frogs in the gulf south that are similar in description to that. They're mostly in FL, but they've been found in states further up. Their color can vary, but the yellow and black on the legs while being gray, does fit. (At least the ones I had on my porch had yellow under their legs with small/light black spots or stripes.) Most of their belly is usually white though, so it's just a guess, and makes the gray tree frog more likely.
