Can mollys and platys be kept together in the same tank????
Local trader suggested not putting mollys and guppies together... is he right???
And last question... will neon tetras eat guppy fry????

Thanks for all your help

I've never had mollies or platies myself. Mollies should get along with platies but I'd like to hear from those who have done that. Mollies and guppies should also get along in general as long as there's enough room and places to hide. Neon tetras probably won't eat guppy fry as they're a bit big to eat for them but the guppy parents and other fish will eat guppy fry.

Hi I keep Mollies ,guppies and platies all in the same tank and they get on fine to the point that the males of all three species dont mind trying to mate with the wrong type of female !
The person who told you not to mix mollies and guppys was probably reffering to the fact that mollies like salt in their water as do platies but guppys are not so fond of it .
I put a little less salt in than recomended for mollies but just enough to make all the fish comfortable
Neons will eat of platies and guppies when the are newborn but molly fry are too big, if you are interested in breeding a small fry tank and raise the fry there till they can go back to the main tank.
To get the best from them feed alot of live food ,bloodworms brine-shripms e.c.t
they will good babys and live longer.
If you don,t know how long they live for platies and guppies live for around three years and mollies five.
I hope this helps you out.

Guppies enjoy a little salt too but not as much as mollies. A tablespoon per gallon might work for all three.

i keep all three together, and i add a tablespoon for every 5 gallons of water.

Yer - they definantly go together well - I have a lot of customers with those combinations altho I will have to tell them about the salt...
