There are just so many hardy plants to chose from! I have lists of plants on my site (plant list index at http://www.fishpondinfo.com/plants/hardy.htm ). How big is your pond? How deep? What Zone are you in (or rather how cold does it get there in the winter)? Will this pond freeze solid? What size, colors, types of plants do you want?

I'm in Northern Iowa, guess that's zone 4 or 5. I've had good luck with hardy lilies, hardy grasses/ribon grass, parrot's feather, lizzard tail, and mini cattails. Most hardy plants grow well, I just can't remember all the names of my plants.

jessw931, In my book Tennessee share zones 6 and 7. I suggest visiting your local garden shop and seeing what they recommend for that area.

I live in Florida and the plant that's doing best in our outdoor pond is papyrus. It is magnificent... and requires no care whatsoever.
