Title: Survival In Wild Pond
Description: Wild Pond for koi?

Dawn - August 4, 2006 03:49 PM (GMT)
I will be moving into another house soon. There is a wild pond on the lot. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if my koi would survive in this "wild" pond. There are other fish in this pond such as bass and catfish, but I haven't caught any big ones! The fish that we have caught are around the size of my koi. There are also snakes, frogs, and turtles that frequent the pond. I really don't want to get rid of my koi so please help me!

Larger koi will survive in the "wild pond." Smaller koi may be eaten by the various fish, turtles, etc. in there. It certainly wouldn't be as safe as a dedicated pond for them. If you want to add the koi, be sure they can't wash out down a stream or something after a heavy rain and float/end up down stream.
