Description: Thank you to Robin

Robin, I just wanted to thank you for this great website. I don't know what I would do without you. I'm here all the time looking stuff up and looking at the pictures to identify stuff. You have been such a big help to us. Thank you. Kathi

Kathi, I totally agree with you. I've even referred her sites to 2 couples I stood next to at the pond section in Home Depot and one person online that was asking freecycle for a pool filter and pump for her POND.

Thanks. I don't know why I spend so much time working on my site. All I get are a few thanks from nice people like you on occasion. I try to figure if my site helps save a few animals, it's worth the huge trouble. But, it sure would be nice to make some money! Not for me (never been on a vacation, don't wear fancy clothes, make-up, or jewelry at all) but for the animals and so I can afford to stay at home and continue working non-stop for the animals if I outlive my ailing parents. Ok, it's for me because without the house, land, plants, and animals, I have nothing.

Robyn, I should be ashamed.....I have not said thank you for a long time. I do appreciate all of your hard work. I look at your site MANY times a day. You are a very kind person.
Ellen

It's just one of those sites that you can be on for hours at a time, it goes on and on and we always learn new stuff. And if I have to look up something, it's always there, you know? You should make us subscribe. (Though I'm real glad you don't). I've been coming here a couple years, now, just never said anything. We are all grateful for what you do. kathi

I once thought about making people pay to get into the site but didn't because.
1. No one would.
2. All those animals that could have been helped wouldn't be.
That's one reason I'd think people wouldn't like my site - it goes on and on mostly about nothing! I try to write more things each week between work but for what. I do appreciate the half a dozen thanks I get each week. It would be nice if real people (not on the internet) appreciated my non-stop work but they don't. Most people who actually know me don't like me. Hence, my ability to spend hours on my web site!

robin has a donation button!!i believe its on the front page of website
Robyn - August 17, 2006 05:24 PM (GMT)
I put a donation button at the top of all of my pages half a year ago. I got one $5 donation. I also have a dumb Fishpondinfo store that's a few years old. I sold a few things to myself and one thing my mother bought for me there. One person did order some $80 from there but then cancelled the order. My new site, Pond Showcase, has gotten no interest at all. I'm on a roll. Yay! Amazingly, I do make money from the site, from Google ads. I don't know who clicks on those things but a get a few dollars a day from that, enough to have to file taxes as self-employed and pay an extra few hundred dollar fee for that on top of the ~40% to taxes. So, per hour of work on my site and answering questions (about two hours a day), I make, let's see, about $1.50 an hour. I should quit my day job of $12 (after taxes) an hour!

Robyn, If I was to order your pond book off of this site, would you make anything off of that? I have been seeing it on the main page.
Robyn - August 18, 2006 01:16 PM (GMT)
If you order the book from Author House directly, I get $5 per book. If you order from any place else, it costs you $10 more but I make less, about $2.50 per book. I paid about $1200 years ago to have the book made and have never made even half that back. I still have half a dozen at home since no one wants them if you want me to mail you one. I can't even give them away.
jessw931 - August 18, 2006 01:27 PM (GMT)
hey robin could we mail the money to you directly to buy one so you make the full profit?
Robyn - August 18, 2006 01:49 PM (GMT)
If you want to get one from me, e-mail me privately, and we can exchange addresses. I paid the $16.95 almost 6 years ago for 10 books plus about $20 SH for 10 books but I consider that all lost money. At this point, I would just really want to be covered for SH to you, probably $3-6 these days. If you get one of the few books I have, you could also have it signed and get a few promotional junk things I bought back then (frog beach ball, frog ornament, and little rubber goldfish). Yes, I paid for those too but at this point, nobody wants any of it. I got all that to try to sell books locally. I did about 3 events (a talk, a garden show, etc.) and sold only a few books.

Hi Robyn,
Just wanted to say THANKS also for the site. I have only seen a small portion -- specifically your "diary" of events with the Danios TB disaster. I am thankful you kept and logged those notes.
I'll donate a few bucks to you, and If I continue to use the ton of info on this site, I'll certainly make another.
Good luck to you....

I would just like to thank you for everything you have done. Your hard work is greatly appreciated. If it wasn't for your site so many small lives would have been lost.My fish tank would have been over crowded and the fish over feed. The water in the pond would be green and very unhealthy for the fish.I have learned so much in the past year.I would also like to thank the members for all their quick responses and ideas. It really does feel like a family environment.
What ever it takes to keep this family together I'm in.
