I have a community tank, mostly guppies which seem to breed like rabbits!!!

I have been offered some pea mussels. Shall I take them, bearing in mind I do have lots of baby guppies which I don't want killing/eating?

What do these pea mussels do?

I don't know about pea mussels but mussels in general live by filtering algae and microorganisms out of the water column. They usually don't live long in aquariums because the water is too clean and clear without food floating about. They will not harm guppies. The mussels don't do much, just sit there and open and close.

 Thanks for this info Robyn. Have decided against these mussels. Pretty expensive too! Will just stick with a load of guppies and a few others.
