Yesterday at work I was catching Silver Scats for a customer & while I was putting the first one from the net to the bag I got spiked by it's top fin... It really really hurt, more than any other spike I have gotten from a fish... Anyways about 20 minutes afterwards my finger ( where it spiked me ) swelled up & became all blotchy then my hand started going numb & then my arm as well & I started to feel sick & dizzy & my mouth went all dry so I went to the hospital & had to have a shot of adrenalin because I had an allergic reaction even tho the fish wasn't on the Doctors list of poisonous fish - altho he said they do have venom... ( my blood pressure went wayyy up... ) I remember reading something about Scats before similar... I'm pretty much back to normal altho the muscles in that arm are pretty sore, thinking it is just part of the reaction...
Just thought I would let you's know to be careful around them !!.

That's horrible! I'm glad you're okay but what an ordeal. I've not heard of scats having poisonous spines. I've never had any but have seen them at the store in the brackish section; they're pretty.
