Title: Glo Fish?
Description: What is the scoop?

I saw these beautiful fish at Wal-Mart. I was reading up on them and saw that some states were banning them. Some kind of controversy. Why? Does anyone know the scoop on these pretty fish? Are they egg layers?

Glofish are genetically altered zebra danios. They have the genes of anemones added to their genome. Aside from that, they are zebra danios and egg layers. This is their web site:

I have heard that when you put Glo-fish under a specific type of light they acctually glow ,it was in some fish keeping magazine , the danios were bright red ,and according to the mag they only glow that colour under a special light.

Yes, that's what I've read too. They fluoresce.
