I live in NJ (Bergen County) which is Zone 6. Anyone visiting this posting, please indicate how many inches of ice you have, at the most, seen on standing water and, perhaps, some dimensions of the pond, i.e. quantity of gallons.

I live at the edge of Zones 6 and 7 in MD and have had at most I think it was 8" of ice in my 1800 gallon pond. I mentioned this in another post but thought I'd add it here. There's not that much traffic through these forums but hopefully somewhere from NJ will post with their ice depth for you!

Since you are zones 6 AND 7 does that mean that 7 is colder then 6? is the higher number more colder. In which case, your winters would be colder. P.S.: not making up stories about those frozen goldfish - in fact, i told the guys over at a pond store and they told me that sometimes that happens to their inventory - and that they too "sometimes" thaw alive. i also read a website that investigated the fact that some lobsters/or crabs?, forgot which, 1 in like 20 can survive freezing and thawing.

The higher the Zone number, the warmer it is. Zone 7 is warmer (farther south) than Zone 6. If you look at one of the zone maps, where I live is right on the line but we're at a higher elevation than around us so we're closer to Zone 6. Tehnically, I think we're Zone 7. Anyway, it's colder where you are.

Well - stop being so greedy and maybe this year we can finally switch winters, like you promised last year.
