Would there be any problem with keeping a group of all male or all female zebra or leopard danios? Would they get along? Because I don't really want a lot of eggs and fry.

A group of females would be fine. I might worry that they could become egg bound although normally fish reabsorb the eggs. A group of males may chase each other but shouldn't really hurt each other. The thing is, how are you going to tell males from females at the store where most fish are either too young or in poor health. If you don't want babies, you don't have to do anything. Any eggs that are laid or fry that hatch, the adult danios will scarf them up. Danios love eating their babies.
