Title: Bantams?

What a cool site, Robyn!!! There's so much info on your site, It will take me WEEKS to read it all :D
Anyway, I didn't see anything about bantam chickens on the site... So Does anybody here know what their general lifespan is?
4 years ago on easter, An animal control in a city near us called, and said they wanted us to take a bantam chick, since we already had chickens. So we did, and he stays in the house with us. I'm not quite sure of their lifespan, I haven't read that anywhere... Does anybody know? Is it just about the same as a regular chicken?

Bantam? A kind of chicken with short legs?
I think this kind of chicken must be from Asia. Because Asian people are always shorter than white people.

Bantams are basically just small chickens. They tend to be more active and probably are thus more healthy. I've never had a bantam but I would guess their lifespan is similar to most chickens or perhaps a little bit longer. While chickens can live to be 10 years or maybe more, my oldest (that wasn't eaten by predators) is only 4.5.
I don't have anything specific about bantams because I've never had them, and they're chickens too.
My chicken pages aren't that long at all. I'm actually redoing them and all my bird pages right now so in a month or two, there will be more chicken stuff. What kind of information should I add?

Robyn, you could post photos of different kinds of chickens. Also you could write about building a chicken house and everything that is needed for their care. I am still trying to talk my husband into building a chicken house.

I'm not much of a builder myself. My father built the house the chickens are in. It was originally a playhouse for us. Then, he wrapped chicken wire around the bottom for the quail we had for a few weeks and released (and never saw again). After we ended up keeping the wild turkeys, when I was at college one day, I came home to find he'd destroyed the upstairs of the playhouse and replaced it with a slanted roof, the whole thing with plywood sides and four windows, not really where I wanted them but it was too late.
In order for me to put up more chicken photos, someone has to send them to me. Unlike most people, I won't simply steal photos off of other web sites. I am making a page for photos of other people's chickens. You can e-mail me some if you want. The site
http://www.feathersite.com/ has an extensive chicken gallery so I just refer people there.

I'd love some photos of everyone's various chickens and their chicken setups (roost, run, house, whatever) to share on my new chicken pages. It will probably take two months before they're done.
