Title: Baby Snails Again
Description: Can I keep them in my main tank?

hi all

in conjuction with my last post i was wondering if i can put my babies in my main tank?

in this tank i have 2 three spot gouramis, 1 moonlight gourami, 2 red honey gouramis, 1 striped flame gourami, 1 platinum gourami, 1 pearl gourami, a female siamese fighter and the mummy snail. im not sure of the gallon size (im from australia so i go by litres) but its about 300 litres or a 3 foot tank.

i used an apparatus i designed to catch them when they hatched to prevent them from being eaten by my fish but in reality, would they eat them? it would be easier for me if i could add them to the main tank but i dont want them to get eaten.

any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

Well, the fish that you have are all well known as far as being fish that will help eat small snails! Gouramis and bettas both can eat small snails. They can also pester larger snails enough to kill them so keep an eye on your mother snail in there. Your larger gouramis would be pretty likely to eat some of the baby snails. You should keep the baby snails in their own tank.

Thank You

i have been keeping a pretty close eye on mum snail but they dont seem at all interested in her. shes rather large so i always thought that the fish may have been put off by that as all gouramis at this stage are still quite young with the biggest only being a little longer than the snail itself :D

on a sadder note when i came out this morning my moonlight gourami was dead :( im baffled as to what happened here. last night she was fine eating and swimming around then this morning she was dead. im a little concerned now about the other fish in my tank but i tested the water and everything seems fine.
