Title: Snail Identity
Description: I have no idea what it is :)

hey robyn

i bought some plants today and there was a small snail on one of the plants. i have had a look through some snail info but cant seem to find its species.

i have taken a couple of photos but they arent overly clear as the lighting over the guppy tank where it is is quite poor but hopefully you can see anyway. its brown and kind of a teardrop shape. its body is very lond extending behind it at about the same length as the shell. i tried to get it off the glass to take apic of it but it didnt seem to withdraw into its shell like the apple snails. when i did a water change just before in the tank it was swirling around in the water and didnt even withdraw then. i guided it with my finger to the side of the tank where it very quickly latched on to the glass and off he went again. tis a weird little guy :)

It looks like he/she might be a pond snail or other similar, common snail.

excellent thank you

is it ok in my guppy tank?

Yes, it should be fine in your guppy tank. The snail will probably lay eggs so you could end up with a lot more of them. Guppies normally don't try to eat snail eggs.
