hi all

i have a tank in which i keep all my livebearer fish. it has a lid which i generally keep closed but during the day i keep it open.

i cleaned the tank today at around lunch time and then fed them straight after which is a ritual of mine. i have/had two female swords which were both present at feeding time which was at about 1.30pm. when my husband got home from work at 3pm he noticed that one of the swords was not there.

i checked everywhere around the tank thinking that she may have jumped out but there is no sign of her anywhere.

does anyone have any ideas on where my girl has gone?? i am most devastated as she was one of my favourite fish and there is no indication of what has happened :(

i was right next to the tank during the 1 1/2 hour period and saw nothing that would indicate what happend

I'm sorry for your loss. If she jumped out, she could have flopped quite a distance away, perhaps under some furniture, etc. She could also be hidden in or around the tank somewhere. Often, when fish die, they are eaten before they are noticed but since it was only 1.5 hours from when she was seen and then not, that is not very likely. She either jumped or is still hidden in the tank.

still remains a mystery. she is definitely not in the tank. when we realised she was gone we looked everywhere. under the lounge and behind the stand but no sign of her. oh well...only thing am thankful for is that when i fed them after the tank change i managed to get my first good pic of her ever :)
