Hi

This is my first time having baby guppies. They will be 2 mths old on March 24th.I can't believe how much they have grown all ready.
Does anyone know when they start to get their color?

Are they regular guppies or fancy ones? I'm guessing fancy? In that case, the males should start to get some color soon. Females take longer to get color since they are less colorful when full grown. Regular guppy females don't get any color aside from blah/brown/gray. I'm glad the babies are doing well!

The colour is actually a good indicator of the sex of the fish prior to the development of the tell tail anal fin.
As Robyn said males will colour up first starting with the tail fin gaining some colour then by about 6 months old they should be fully colured up and looking lovley !

Hi fishkeepergod

I did notice the tails on some of the babies tails are turning black.I also noticed a hint of blue on some of them.It is very exciting watching them grow.I can't wait to see how many males and females there are. I have about 20 babies in the tank.
Thanks for the info.

You will be suprised at how varied they will become, I have a whole batch about 40 my first brood and they were all white with red tails and bodied and the boys are very nice. I was expecting more fatalities guess I'm a good keeper !!!
Try mixing white girls with coloured boys i.e black heads and blue tails for example when they get older you will get great babies !!!

Hi fishkeepergod

I think with this being my first batch of babies I've been very lucky.I haven't lost any of them so far.(knock on wood). I will try mixing white girls with coloured boys when the time comes. Lets not have them grow up to fast.

Thanks for the help

I too just had my new baby Guppies. I am interested in when they will get their colors. My first lot took about three weeks I think. Will monitor more closely now. Good question though.

Hi xtobor

This is my first time with baby guppies. They are 2 1/2 mths old now and most of them are still the same color as when they were born.It is only in the last couple of wks that some of the tails are starting to turn black.I can also see a hint of blue on some of them.It was posted that it will take up to 2 mths for them to turn color.
I can say that they are getting big and have lots of energy.I am surprised at how much they can eat.
