Hello, I bought my daughter five ghost shrimp to go with her white cloud's and neon's. After a few month's they had babies and pretty soon she had 40 or 50. A week ago i noticed a few dead ones and took them out. Today she has none left they all died within the week. I did not add water change temp or anything and the fish are still fine. I was wondering is there some type of disease they can get or how this could of happened. Any thoughts or knowledge i would greatly appreciate it thank you. Scott
I'm sorry about the shrimp. Did anyone add any chemicals, algaecides, or fish "medications" to the tank? Did you test the pH, ammonia, and nitrite levels? The shrimp are telling you something in there was toxic to them. It may be something that doesn't affect the fish as profoundly but you should still try to figure out what did it. Shrimp don't have many diseases of their own. I don't know which ones they can get. They most often die (when not due to being hurt by other animals or rarely old age) of poor water quality or poisoning (from algaecides, medications, ammonia, etc.). Good luck!
Hello, Ph level is 7.0 and no chemicals were added. I will keep trying to find the possible problem and if i find out i will post on this site to make others aware. Thank You, Scott
