I don't know enough about those two species to give you an answer. If I had more time, I would research it for you. I think ornate box turtles and Eastern box turtles can produce young (they certainly can mate). The ornate and desert box turtles most likely can mate but I'm not sure if babies would result.

The green is on the skin or the shell? If on the shell, it may be algae which is not a problem. If the skin is green, then there may be an infection of some sort. If you're concerned, try to locate a vet that sees reptiles.

Good luck!

thanks for doing all this and always answering. i have this bed frame on wheels with a screen top outside and on one end i have wood on top (for a hiding place) and there is a little pool and a box (for a little home) under the wood. at around 6pm she goes in the pool and sleeps there the whole night. is that normal or ok? like would she get sick from cold or if she goes to the bathroom in there? the pool is in the corner next to the wall where the wind hits against so it's not blowing on her and the temp is 73-75F.
p.s. i can take a pic of it tomorrow so u can see it if that'll help u. thanks

Some box turtles like water more than others. She may sleep there because it feels most secure, or maybe she's too warm otherwise. It shouldn't harm her as long as she fully dries out during some time of the day. If she's always wet, her shell may start to rot or grow fungus. Growing algae is ok. She most likely will defecate in the water as long as it's relatively warm. You should change the water as often as you can. If she still hangs out in the water when it's cold outside, that could possibly make it easier for her to get sick. As long as it's warm (high 60's degrees F or warmer), it should be ok.
