I'm building a new pond next year - this time: a "big?" one.

If its about 15 x 15, but I keep a 5" shallow margin around the pond for about 10" out toward the center will this cause a lot of evaporation on account that the edge is so shallow.

* would the evaporation be more that its additional surface area, or because its shallow and will heat up fast?

Don't worry about it! It's not significant (the evaporative loss from a shallow area in such a large pond). You analyze things too much and ask too many questions!
