Does a pond which is 22" max but covered with lilly pads nearly 80% have more evaporation then a 36" pond with say 40-50% lilly pad coverage?

Evaporation is a factor of temperature and exposed water area not depth directly. Therefore, my guess would be that the shallow but more covered pond would have less evaporation.
