Hi Robyn...it's Val from the paradise fish threads. Hope you're doing well.
Remember that I had a small 4-gallon pond set up on my back porch last year? Well for Mother's Day this year my family upgraded it to 20 gallons in a a hole-less planter. I have the original fountain pump that came with the small one (which is now a bird-bath), a large airstone w/pump for 20 gallon tank, live water lilies, and plenty of places for them to hide. I have 5 pond comets in there right noe & the algae gets a bit out of control at times but I use Algae Fix & it seems to help. So far everything's gone well. I just wish my dog would leave the fish alone (part retriever what can you do).
I just wanted to check in as it's been awhile. Hope your pond(s) are doing good. Talk to you soon!
Val
Good luck with your new pond. Mini ponds can be a challenge. Eventually, your goldfish will outgrow the 20 gallons. My ponds are not as good as I'd like mostly due to raccoons who keep dumping pots, tearing up plants, eating snails, etc. I also don't have enough time to tidy up, repot, etc.
