Glofish are genetically altered zebra danios. When danios are egg-laden, they are slightly enlarged and do not sulk. If she is grossly fat and laying around, it sounds like she may be sick. I have a section on "Why is my fish fat?" at
http://www.fishpondinfo.com/health4.htm#fatI'm afraid that she might have dropsy or another bacterial infection.
If you can post a photo of the fish, I can tell you if she looks normal for a female or might be sick.
As far as breeding information on zebra danios, see
http://www.fishpondinfo.com/danio.htmhttp://www.fishpondinfo.com/breed.htmI never really separated my danios for spawning purposes. I would remove eggs or fry that I found during weekly gravel vacuumings. I do not have any photos of any fish eggs because my camera is just a blur if I try to take photos of something that small.
I don't know if it's normal for Glofish to have the glow gene in their feces. Danio eggs are clear. A female danio almost never lays eggs without a male present (during a spawning).
The 2.5 gallon is their main tank or where you put the enlarged female?
I've had a number of people contact me about bettas with dropsy-like symptoms. A few of those people actually popped their fish and fluid came out. If you "massaged" him harshly, that may have also gotten fluid to come out. That can be dangerous though as it will bruise him pretty bad. I suggest treating him with aquarium salt, MelaFix, and some antibiotics.
Here's the story of one person who popped their betta named Valentine.

Good luck!
