On of my forum members was wondering....what kind of snake this is.

I'm not sure. It's not a regular (black or red) rat snake or regular corn snake but both of those species come in a variety of colors and sometimes patterns. It does have the black squares of the two rattlesnakes that are in NY but if the person didn't hear/see a rattle, it's not that.

I'm not very good with identifying snakes. Here are some sites:

I agree its either a corn or rat both similiar same "family" I live in Florida we have both and sometimes its hard to tell them apart but neat snakes to have for vermin control and harmless
