Hello
Has anyone kept a Red ear slider all year long in Florida ?
Plan is kiddie pool dug into soil with submersible pump used to drain it every couple of days and around the pond land area which is combo sand, soil, grass .
However not sure if few cold winter days might be a problem . Enclosure will be heavy wire with cinder blocks dug in as to stop racoons digging but cold spells are my concern.
Any input is great .
Thanks
I've never had a red-eared slider, a turtle pond, or been to Florida so I'm not qualified to answer.
I think a few colder nights should be fine as long as the pond doesn't ice over. Red-eared sliders can survive in ponds with some surface ice as long as there's a hole in the ice for gas exchange.
