Two of my daughters, my 4 grandkids and I took a road trip to California from Tennessee a few weeks ago. What an experience!!!!! We were driving in the middle of nowhere in Arizona. I have never seen Elk before and oh my gosh.....what a beautiful sight. There were about 6 of them grazing and their horns are gigantic. We sat on the side of the road (trying to keep the kids quiet) for a half an hour watching them. They are so beautiful. I just wanted to share.

You were very lucky to experience that. Did you get photos? When we used to go to Colorado (my grandfather had a ranch there), we used to be able to see pronghorn antelope but by the last time we went in 1996, development had decreased their numbers quite a bit. At our house in Maryland, we have our own wild herd of whitetail deer who are like part of the family.
