;) ??

I'm back to the original question. I've got the two newts, soon to be one, and a snail. We have a Beta in a separate bowl that would be nice to have in the tank (10 gal) if possible. Otherwise, things look lonely for the poor newt!

See my reply in the other section where you asked the same question. I don't think the newt could resist biting at the betta since bettas are pretty slow. To avoid predation, you'd have to have healthy, fast, preferably larger fish that could avoid the hunting newt. A 10 gallon tank is pretty small so there's not much more room in there to add animals with a newt or two. You might try a few zebra danios since they are fast and not expensive. Of course, at night, the fish sleep so the newt could eat them then anyway. I wish someone who has kept newts and fish could answer for you but my forum doesn't have that much traffic. Good luck!

Hi Robyn,

Thanks for your time and patience. I guess I'm having a difficult time wrapping my head around the idea that these little newts would eat something that seems so much bigger than them. All right - I accept. But I might still try a few things and see what happens.

Will let you know!

Thanks again.
