Hi
Ethel is my black Moor that was beat up by other fish in my pond. Currently she is living in a 20 gallon aquarium by herself.
I wonder if she is lonely or is she just fine?
If she needs a friend I would get her one, but I do not want anybody beating anybody up again!
If she doesn't need friends and will be fine alone, then that is how she will be.
What does everyone think?
Thanks,
Karen
There are pros and cons to adding another goldfish.
Pro:
Goldfish do like companionship and a friend so Ethel may be happier.
Con:
New fish can always introduce parasites, bacteria, etc. to an existing tank.
There's no guarantee that the new fish won't chase or badger Ethel.
I suggest trying to find a goldfish old enough to sex as female and to get a female goldfish. I also suggest getting a fancy goldfish equally slow as Ethyl instead of a single-tailed goldfish who would grow larger and be more apt to pester her. To reduce pestering as well, the new fish should be smaller than Ethel.
Thanks Robyn,
I will go on a hunt tomorrow.
