Robyn, the fry that i caught in my pond which has been in a 5 gallon aquarium for a week is so odd looking. It looks like a fancy goldfish - black tail, some orange and white body. At your suggestion, I have given it 2 salt baths, used melafix and a product called Rid Fungus by Kordon. It still has this white opaque coating on it's body. It starts just behind the head and gills and goes just about to the tail. That coating has what appears to be green patches on it. Also right before the white begins, the gills have reddish orange spots on both sides of the fish. I don't see any improvement yet. Otherwise, the fish is lovely and eats very well. Any thoughts? Thanks, Nancy
Can you send a photo of the fish? How is it odd? Could it be a fancy goldfish? White coatings on the body can be fungus, bacteria, or the skin itself coming off. It can take a while for fungal infections to improve. I suggest using an antibiotic as well because bacteria are probably involved too. The bacteria called columnaris looks like fungus sometimes but it's not. He/she might have that.
