I am new. Found you looking for how to start lilly pads from seeds. thank you so much. you are the only one with an answer. I'll get to work on it today.

I saw a brief article on vacationing in your backyard. we have 5 acres, 1 acre a fish pond fed from creek and spring fed. I'd like any info on how to turn creek fed end into swimming hole, retaining other end as fishing hole. which end do I want to plant the lilly pads?
Do you know how to do this? We plan to dig creek end deeper and then to 6 foot and the creek bed out deeper too. that 1/2 dries up in november. We live in box springs, GA. :D we thought of a damn between w/a pipe thru middle to filter fish on deep side. want to park canoe up creekbed and be able to acess around to fishing side. after fixing we will add more stock, probably catfish. We have raised and have 9 ducks. Any and all advise would be so appreciated. Just moved out here to the country Nov 2006. Have raised 10 chickens, waiting on eggs.
Thanks so much! (1st time to ever try to communicate on a board). Sorry, if I did'nt do it right. ;)

I was thinking about a swimming pond awhile back. When I googled I did find a site from England that does full construction, sorry don't know what I did with it. Sounds like a big project, you'll be busy all winter drawing out the specs. I'd recommend you contact your local city hall for any type of permits.

You could plant the lilies in either end but you probably want room to swim in that end without bumping into too much. Like many ponders, I've never built a swimming pond but just fantasize about them. Our pool is 20 years old and literally falling apart but I could never convince my family to put in a swimming pond instead.

Here is the UK site on swimming ponds:

I've always wanted ducks although they are good at making messes (who isn't?). I have five chickens two of whom were born here.

Your communication was fine!
