I was so upset when one of my gold fantails was fished out of the pond by a cat and was found dead. :(
I went down to the fish place and bought saragasa (?) to replace, so I would have an even number of 4.
Yesterday, I went out to feed and I swear I saw 2 black babies about an inch or two.
I will not know for sure until they come to close my pond because I have pond shade in it and the water is black.
They sure are cute tho. They look like black moors.

Black Moore babies! You lucky bum!

I have two babies I've been watching. I think they're either Koi or a Koi/Gold mix, they were born late last year, outside the season of the goldfish boom (lots of babies). They're still mostly Uck color, just starting to lighten a bit in areas, especially around their head is a prominent outline resembling Koi. I don't see any whiskers yet, but I'm hoping.

Karen, did you have black moors? Or did you mean these are just dark like most baby goldfish?

Yes, I had 2 black moors that were put into the pond in April. One got beat up (She now lives in a tank by herself inside) and the other just disappeared. I figured they killed her. (while trying to "mate"?) SO now all of a sudden I see 2 black moor babies like 2 inches long.

Well I am not sure, but we'll see.

Whiskers are cute.
